The next release, 10.04 is coming out at the end of this month but is available for download now. I have found it to be stable enough now but would always recommend under any circumstances backing up all your data.
 
My advice is not to jump to the newest version for at least one month after release-by then any issues will hopefully be ironed out and you will get notification of distribution upgrade from update manager.

Unless you have experience with Ubuntu or desperately need a new feature. http://www.ubuntu.com/ has similar advice

popped it on a friends laptop with a new hard drive she has copied the disc and passed it round her friends they have all found it sooo damn good, esp with open office :)
 
shake the tree and there is more people using Ubuntu than I was expecting-good in a way it proves people are getting to know about it and prepared to try it

If lucid 10.04 is behaving-lets go with that

I haven't read this thread, but i need help please.
My nipper has fecked my iphone up by trying to down load an ap.
Now my phone is knackerd :mad:
If i turn the phone on, i just get a balck screen with a cartoon penguien fingy.....what can i do to get it back up and running as a phone???
