I know this has been done to death but I've been trawling through here for the last 2 hours as I want to put larger tyres on my FL1... People say 235/70/16 will fit and some say otherwise.

I dont have wheels spacers and my choice of tyres are 205/80/16, 235/70/16 or 215/70/16. As id like my vehicle to be higher I don't see much use in the 215/70/16 as i have 215/65/16 currently fitted.

Can anyone give me a definitive answer please before I waste my money on tyres that won't fit... Cheers in advance beautiful people

I've personally ran both 225/75/16 and 235/70/16 on standard wheels without spacers. Both of those sizes are ~29" diameter, as is the 205/80/16 you mention. These three sizes are as big as you can fit to a freelander.

Thanks for your reply... The tyres I have seen haven't a massive tread either which I'm hoping will help... Ill be honest when they arrive I will take a hammer to things to make them fit if necessary

Hammering won't help, as the tyres foul the strut spring cup, long before they hit any bodywork, which is mostly plastic anyway. ;)

Mine has 235/55/18", which fit ok, with about 10mm if clearance to the spring cup.
