twin rear box exhaust to single???

can you fit a twin rear box exhaust from a later car to a 1996 car with only one rear box if so how hard and is there any benefit other than it looking better imo you comments are welcome thanks

dont see why not as long as you can find somewhere to hang the exhaust from

The rear valence is different and you need the hangers, but apart from that comparing my 2000 to my 96 it looks to be no problem.

i dont see any reason why you cannot do it,but why do it as it is just more stuff to rot and cost even more to pay out.

As far as I can tell the change was largely cosmetic, acheived with a T-piece very late in the system so it's not going to give much of an improvement in performance cause the gases have already had to force their way through the same centre section. In the last discussion on this topic someone also suggested additional heat shielding might be needed in places around the new box. The other effect would be to reduce the gas pressure at the exit pipes which could be an issue when wading, glug! glug!

was just asking as wondered if there were any power gains more than anything but as not really not worth doing.Also as mentioned earlier just more to rot and cost money but do think it looks better but not enough to warrent the work to fit it but thanks for all the replys/opinions anyone recomend a good single exit stainless option???

Thinking of doing the same to my 1995, But you have to re-route the rear brake pipes on the rear axle, if you look on rave they show pictures of the two systems, once the brake pipes are re-routed it is pretty much straight forward.
Going to change mine, it has a stainless sports system on, don't know how old it is, but at 50 - 80 mph the noise from the tail pipe gets a bit anoying. thinking of replacing with a standard system, don't think the performance gains are that much.

Get a custom built powerflow like I got for mine. Sounds good, its stainless and you have a lot of choice of tailpipes and routing. I did look at the RPI system but although it sounds good the back end with a large pipe each side looks like a wheel barrow. I can give you a good company in norfolk to go to. My system cost £650 fully fitted with lifetime warranty.

But he will still need to move the brake pipes on his 96' model as the flexi pipes drop down from the chassis to the axles right where the exhaust will run.
