Hi all,

Any thoughts about the Fourby twin inlet manifold? I’m not sure about how much benefit you get for the £250 outlay.

Add the cost of a larger intercooler :eek:
I watched a YouTube video of a twin inlet install together with a large intercooler (Disco 2). The rad frame had to be cut together with the slam panel. They didn’t say how much the intercooler was, but it looked aluminium and expensive.
The video makers were raving about the mod and the benefit to torque. But for the outlay, I’m not sure about the benefit over standard.
With increased torque you will put pressure on other components also, won’t you?

Having done a bit more delving into this, the twin inlet manifold balances air flow across the pistons.
In standard format cylinder 3 gets the vast majority of cubic centimetres of air per minute (CCM), and piston 1 gets the least.
So in theory, the twin inlet manifold balances performance and delivers more air.

It makes the engine sound smoother when it is changed over on idle. Plus it feels smoother as you drive it.

it is all part of the ring/ pin/ IC and Hybrid turbo / increased Turbo pressure and FIP tune strategy.

I would say it might benefit a naturally aspirated engine, but for a low revving turbo diesel not really.
 
I dunno if these are still the popular thing , I’m looking into it currently , I have an idea how to check if there as good as forby say they are , involves a virtual wind tunnel / simulation I have acsess to I’m just working on getting a decent 3D model
