After going through all the motions for oil in coolant problem, it appears that my cylinder head has a crack in it somewhere between the oil/water galleries and is therefore f***ed.
Looking around at alternative replacements I saw Turner Engineering have a "Performance" head .
Has anyone had experience of this head and does it live up to expectations ?
Worth the extra money ???

It all depends on the condition of your engine ! Turbo , inter cooler, piston wear, rings , you would be best with a good standard head ! And spend the extra on a full service !!!

Hi,
I do not have any info on the Turner head, but I replaced my head about 4 yrs ago with a new standard head from Paddocks, about 300 pounds at the time. It is made by AMC (Spain I think), this has done about 70,000K with no problems until I had an overheat recently caused by a core plug failing. I highly recommend that you change your P gasket, water pump and throughly inspect core plugs, hoses and test thermostat whilst the engine is in pieces. This engine loves to destroy heads at the first sign of overheating. The money might be better spent on other maintenance. I would also recommend using the new Multi layer steel (MLS) head gasket and new head bolts.

I can't vouch for this particular head, but in the past I have bought their uprated 2.25 petrol head - higher compression, and slightly ported IIRC. Very high quality. Their website has a reasonable explaination. Don't expect 20% power increase, but you will notice a bit more oomph through the rev range.

not used a mls, but unless you are sure everything is very clean and very straight then i'd stick to a good composite like erlang / payen. imo :)
