Hi all anyone know which turbo is fitted to a 2.5td (bmw) on a 96 plate, ive been told its a mitsubishi td04, could anyone confirm this

Open the bonnet and take a look. Will be stamped on the cold side.

it is the mitsubishi TD04 13t on the 1996 p38 thats what was on mine anyway

was thinking of spacing the actuator rod a few mm so the turbo kick in a bit longer. anyone done this and is it a good idea?

Maybe a few have done it. Is it a good idea? On an old engine with a lot of miles on it, maybe not.

i upped the boost on my previous dse by adjusting the actuator rod but you need an accurate boost guage i only went 2psi over standard i mainly did it to check what boost it was making as an actuator is only sprung loaded and a spring relaxes with age.
would i do it without a boost guage no i wouldnt unless you want the risk of blowing it up really if you want to adjust boost you need a bigger intercooler and you need to monitor exhaust gas temps to make sure you dont cause serious engine damage

Dont think i'll bother then the engine has 141k on clock and maybe a bit past it. could cost me an engine
