It may be as simple as a little plastic or rubber pipe has fallen off between the aluminium casting end of the turbo and the pressure capsule. This would cause (a) too high turbo pressures and (b) a Hell of a noise as the air comes blasting out at 15 to 20 psi.

Check this first.

If the noise only happens when the engine is pulling quite strongly it sounds very much like an inlet air leak somewhere, the wee pipe or the manifold gasket, or one of the turbo hose clamps between the turbo the intercooler and the manifold.

hi the turbo pipe is still there will be checking the manifold tomorrow but the manifold has a brand new gasket on it and all other pipes tomorrow will check back then.

everything has been torqued down to the book do you think that i should torque it down a bit more???

Check all that carefully. If they broke the gasket it would scream like crazy. It sounds like it must be a air-leak (Please God ....) or the turbo shaft running with too much clearance and the exhaust turbine or inlet impeller hitting the casing. If it is the latter, it is almost always the compressor impeller hitting the light alloy casing, and it makes a B-A-D noise! I stil hope for an air leak.

No. Check by all means to make sure there are no loose nuts and bolts, but don't over-tighten anything. Make sure the hoses and clips are OK all the way.
