Turbo problem

when i accelerate i can hear my turbo screech its been going on for a month or so
if i gently accelerate theres no noise ,its not a belt,
any advice ,easy to change or cost to but turbo

If (when?) you get an exhaust manifold leak it often sounds like that. Have a look with a torch and you might see some black soot around the manifold / gasket.

A turbocharger does usually make a whining sound when it is boosting.

Might be an idea to make a full diagnosis before rushing into a turbocharger change.

Betting on it being a warped exhaust manifold as mentioned above.

I had that fault in the summer. Screeching noise on acceleration starts around 1800 rpm, got worse an worse and I thought the turbo must be going.
Nope.
Warped exhaust manifold. Iawa 4x4 in Wellingborough changed it for 200 notes (secondhand manifold).
Then it started again. Had to tow my caravan to and from holiday with this screech going on. Ouch!
But they had it back in fixed the helicoil that had not taken properly for no more money, and let me use their courtesy car…
