Turbo gone?

Hi, driving home tonight I accelerated then heard a whoosh kind of noise from the engine-the power dropped off and when I accelerate now the engine whines and there's no power -- I suspect the turbos blown but I'm only guessing
Any advice would be appreciated
It's a 96 300tdi disco 1 by the way

Rev the engine and squeeze the turbo hose. It should go hard with pressure. If it dosn,t then take the 90 hose bend of the turbo, get a mirror and see if your blades are intact and spinning.

Thanks I'll give it a try-- if it's gone is it still possible to drive it or is that a bad idea?
The garage I use is shut till monday and I have to get to work

It could be the hose has split or blown off - my 300tdi did that on more than one occasion.

They need to be clamped very tightly.

Thanks for the answers-- I'll have a look at the hoses in the morning -- if I can't sort it I suppose I'll have to drive it carefully until Monday and hope its okay

Turns out it was the bottom turbo hose that had come off -- bit fiddly to get at but got it sorted -- thanks for the help fellas
