With all the lights and bongs a TD5 makes couldn't they have made it do something when you try and start it in gear?!

Was in a hurry earlier and must have forgotten to place it in park before I got out, thus leaving it in drive.

When I got back and turned the key it did nothing! All the ignition lights went out and nothing happened! Exactly what my old 300tdi used to do when it had the infamous spider immobiliser problem, so I automatically assumed this had developed the same problem!!!! - no bongs and no "you're in gear, you retard" light illuminating!!!

Must have taken me 5 minutes to work out my mistake  A simple "bong" would have sufficed!
