Could do with a bit of help!
When I got it, I started it with a flame in the inlet manifold to drive it into my workshop. After a new radiator, water pump and glow plugs it still wont start up without the flame. Even then its hit n miss if it'll fire!
Glowplugs are parallel type which are wired up with out the original ballast resistor in and work perfectly. Freshly charged battery for good cranking speed and injectors have been bled.

Its always been a bad starter but when running, runs sweet from tick over to full throttle so im ruling timing out??.

Before I start stripping the engine down I thought id ask you guys what you think. Common problems related? First things to check?

cheers in advance, Chris

Timing can affect starting, on mine when i advanced the fueling, started much easier, but muuucchhhh more smokey, but to me it doesn't sound like your problem.
Might be worth changing fuel filter, and bleeding the system.
What do you do with the throttle when you start?
Maybe check the exhaust manifold isn't full to the brim with soot, it is possible your fuel injectors have had it, someone will explain how to check/ clean them, ( I can't remenber)

I have tried lightly touching throttle and also wide open, neither seem to change it. What do you do with yours when you start it?

Manual says to fully depress throttle when starting... I keep the clutch down as well - when starting from cold I always give it a good 10-15 seconds of glow first

I give 10-15 seconds glow plugs in the temperatures we are at now, and blip the throttle gently and not more than 1/4 of the way, but the throttle position seems to change on every landy so it's one that you may have to work out, as mine doesn't like a wide open throttle

Have you tried starting it with your foot off the go-go pedal?

With the pre-heat from the glows warming up the cylinders, you might just find that it might work!

Oldseadog is right. The series pump has a cold start device in the pump that only works at tick over. someone mite have adjusted the throttle stop instead of the idle adjuster
