Trouble removing the Matrix O Rings - Help

I have stripped down the dash as per rangerovers.net but can't get the screw out which holds the pipe clamp. Access is not great but I can get a good screwdriver on it and also a fair bit of purchase but the little begger won't move.
Anybody got any ideas that can help? Don't fancy having to pull the dash out for the sake one fecking wee screw.:mad:
 
The screw goes into a brass tapped insert in the plastic housing of the matrix and the thread is M5. I am not 100% sure, but I think there is a spare insert fitted in case the original gets fecked up.
Persevere with a good fitting screwdriver and wrench to assist with leverage. If that gails, and you can get in, use a 5mm drill to remove the head. Hopefully you should be able to the remove the remainder of the screw with a pair of vice grips or similar. If tou replace the screw with a socket screw (Allen head), preferably Stainless steel, it will be easier to refit and remove in future. I feel certain the size is M5 X 30mm long.

Try some releasing agent , Plus-Gas is v.good - (not WD40, some folks think it's the same it isn't. It does penetrate but it is a water dispersant not a releasing agent). After it has soaked in for a while try tightening first to 'break the seal' (this step is important), then undo.
 
Thanks guys. I have sprayed some penatrating oil on it and will leave it overnight. Too ****ed off to attempt it again this evening. Thanks Irish for the tip about the hex screw. I will definetly use one when I eventually get to put it back again.
 
My tip is to use a good quality anti cam screw driver. Spend a while cleaning the head of the screw with a scriber or metal pick. Sometimes just taking a fraction off the tip of the driver helps it locate.
 
Well nothing changed overnight. Screw still as tight as camels arse in a sandstorm. Can't get at it with a drill and even my Dremel with a flex drive on it doesn't get enough clearance.
Looks like the dash is going to have to come out.
 
bummer,off line t last few days, had t same trouble, got a right angle drill on a cordless that took t head off and t rest was easy, put a hex head in and plenty off grease for t further.
