Trouble fitting modern cd player into a 90!! please help

i am trying to fit a panasonic car audio player into an old defender 90, but the number of wires are different and different colours does anyone know the colour configoration for the 90?? please help

I know I had difficulty installing my radio (a kenwood CD player), but I managed it eventually by going through all the wires with a multimeter. Still haven't managed to get it linked into the ignition though. If you post what color wires you've got in your landy and what connections you need to your radio I'll have a look on mine and see what connections I made (I'd still advise double checking with a multimeter though).

P.S. In fitting mine I butchered the wiring and made direct connections by baring the copper and twisting together - may void warranty I dont know.

Hi thanks for the reply, i found the speaker wires with a 9v battery test (touching the wires on the battery) but my 90 is 13 yrs old and has had what seems to be many different cd and tape player fitted (all bodged) so the wires are repair jobs and about 3 different colours each.

i am going to buy some spade connections and use trial and error to find the right connections, if you have any tips please let me know

You could take a tap from the cigarete lighter to feed the radio then all you need is to do is plug in your speakers. I have never wired a radio, but I am going to be arrogant and assume that it only needs a 12v supply then speaker outputs?

Be carefull what you take a spur from! if you do as DIscomania suggests make sure you fit a low rated in line fuse to rpotect your CD player and your wiring loom/sparks etc...

To be honest if you can isolate the speaker wires, you should be left with 2 (a positive and an earth)

on on later Def's the switched live was green and the constant live was Red, earth (or in our case negative) was black!

I would suggest you go through it all with a multi meter and isolate one by one to be on the safe side.
