Transfer box seal

Hi all,

Have done a search but not a lot came up I needed.

I need to change the front transfer box seal (linking to front prop) I understand the jist of it;
-Prop off
-big nut off
-flange out
-seal out then back together.

How much oil should I expect to get in my face? I have an oil seal but it may be for the LT box and I think mine is a Borg warner. EBay seems to show same seal for both but before I tackle it want to be sure

its the same seal ftc4939,very little oil, especially if you jack front axle up

LRcat shows another rubber seal (RTC6363) on the splines under the washer on the BW. (The LT uses a felt washer under the steel one).

id say rtc6363 seal is better than the felt washer but silicone does the same as well

Hadn't considered silicone so that's a thought although the felt hasn't given me any trouble.

no it doesnt but its messy to fit as it bulges out around the steel washer
