Hopefully some more experienced people out there may be able to help me. will a 36D prefix LT230 fit to an LT77?
I could be wrong, but am under the impression that any lt230 will fit any lt77, same with the r380 and lt230.

Yup, I don't think they changed the bolt pattern or the spline pattern, so it should be a direct fit.

I also believe they all fit, but fitting a later disco 1.2 to my early 1985 110 involved tapping out a couple of holes to hold the original handbrake bracket, twas a long time ago and can't remember specifics but straight forward enough.

Not sure what the 36D prefix where fitted to.

But same hear any will fit.

don’t get 1 from a disco that hasn’t got CDL though. Also be aware if you do use the disco it’s ratio of 1.2 will have pros v cons depending on what you do.

I thought that would be the case but I wasnt sure. I had a transfer box from an early RR auto which was a high ratio and I dont remember any issues with it it was a lot quieter to drive. Does anyone have experience of a 1:211 ratio box in a 200tdi 90 with 33's on it?

The 36D is a discovery (1.211) transfer box.

It will give you lower revs at speed but won't help you if you are towing, or have a 110 with big wheels...
It's a bit high for a 200tdi too, 300's are slightly happier and a TD5 should be fine.

What car/engine do you have ?

I am going to respectfully disagree with @miktdish above. I run a 1.2 transfer box on my 200tdi powered 110 and have done for years. There are disadvantages when towing fully laden I will admit, but most of my towing is not at 3.5t and when it is (usually a loaded car trailer) you just have to occasionally pull away in low range and perfect the double declutch and rev match to change ratios once rolling.

I run 265/75/16 bfg at tyres on mine with no problem which come out a t a calculated 31.65" in diameter although I do not know what they are in reality. I have no experience with 33" but can tell you it did not pull the 35" I had fitted when I first swapped the box, but my plan was always to remove the lift and big wheels so that was not a problem.

It is a 200tdi 90 with 35's soon to have a boost ring and pin with a boost controller, upgraded intercooler, upgraded radiator. I had a higher ratio transfer box in it previously with 34" tyres and standard set up it was well able for the tyres and cruised nicely, I cant remember what ratio the box was but I would like to get it to a poit where it can cruise longer distances with modern traffic and not rev its head off.
While we are on the topic would anyone have any experience of this intercooler? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/13302978...id=0&emsid=0&ufes_redirect=true&ul_noapp=true

My 90 previously had a 1.19 tfer box and very tall tyres, kin hell steep hill standing starts were interesting!
Basically I had a 4 speed 90.
