This has been covered before but I could not find an answer to my question. I think ep-90,gl5 is ok to use in a 1999 td5 transfer box because I dont think they are any bronze parts in there ? There were bronze bushes used on earlier defenders and on the 110,90 and series models and ep-90,gl4 should be used in these transfer boxes.
Im going to change the oil on my td5 (transfer box and diffs) later this week and I used gl5 last time, there is enough left to fill the diffs but I will have to get more for the transfer box so should I look for gl4 ?
Thanks for any advice.

75w-90 gl5 is the premuim recommedation / 80w90 GL5 is the standard recommendation for that year bud

Thanks for the replies. I have done a lot of searching since I posted this and there seems to be a lot of different opinions out there. Most saying not to put gl5 into the transfer box because it reacts with any bronze or brass parts in it causing them to fail.

All the oil companies list GL5 oil from 1998 on (TD5) so maybe they changed something in the box

just put in what is recommended by the oil companies, they get their recommendation from the manufacturers

what brand of oil do you prefer?
