hi all, just noticed that there is oil coming out of the transfer box, where its connected to the front propshaft, looks like is leaking then gettin sprayed around the cavity bit underneath the car (wont need to underseal there for a while!) as the propshaft is turning, is this a seal kit job if so any ideas where u get them, or is it something else?

just a quick update, have spent all of last nite fixing a very loose rear brake caliper (another story) thought id change the seal tonight but im havin trouble, ive got the front propshaft off but i cant seem to undo the retaining locknut on the drive flange bit on the transfer box any tips?

mine just seemed to crack off as far as i remember, am not sure but you sure ther isnt a split pin of folded washer or anything like that?? somthing rings a bell but i cant be sure, i maybe thinking of somthing else, if anyone is after the bearing behind the seal then i have on here £10 posted, just want my money back on it as all mine ahve been done now.

quick update guys, took off the large rectangular plate bit behind the transfer box (where the gearbox goes down to the transfer box) and i have fouund the problem :) there are three shafts, the one from the gearbox, the one that goes into the transfer box and one in between with the cogs to link the two others, well, a bearing has gone on the end of the middle one meaning its all floppy and can move back and forwards. anyone ever had this problem? how easy is it to get that bit out?

had a good look this morning and am wondering, if i take the circular back plate off where the shaft comes out the back of the gearbox, can i take the top cogs out? then take the middle (broken) one out then?

Yes you can, make sure you look as to what way it came out though!

The center gear is held in with a long pin and a nut, there are seals on the pin so make sure these are replaced and greased so you don't rip them on reassembly.
