Transfer Box gaskets

S3 transfer box inspection plate gasket.

bought a new one because mine was leaking, it was clean etc etc. replaced it and its not stopped it

its not just a few drips either. its a small puddle each day. Its deffo coming from the plate not anywhere else. Any tricks to sorting this out? will the cover be warped? I wouldnt mind a few drips, but at this rate I will be topping up weekly.

Check that the cover isn't distorted around the bolt holes (if it is use a small ball/plain hammer to remove the distortion), clean the jointing surfaces with Emery Paper and use blue glue (hylamar?) or if the problem persists as a very very last resort use Green Hermertite.

You can check the cover with a steel rule, the cork gaskets for that are thick so should take up a fair bit of warp

Couldnt get a corky gasket, so whipped it off again, dried the gasket, hammered the cover and put on a fair blob of Hylomar to.

Stopped leaking now

I just dropped it in for MOT, so fingers crossed!

ai, me too! seemed ok on the drive over there. Its only about 4 miles, but its the furthest I have driven it since trailering it back! V8 sounded lovely

If it fails, hopefully it wont be much.
