hi

after reading alot about different spilt charge systems i want to set up a power outlet for my trailor socket

this is the kind of set up i'm going to install , well next year now , lol

vsr split charge system with aux agm battery , solar on the aux , am fine with that now and understand that side ,

wish to have the ability to plug in a conversion lead into the trailer socket for 12 volt power , or an inventor , however i think the one i currently have fitted is a trailer socket and not a caravan one , want to have a live at the socket so that when the engine is off, got a permanent live feed that will run off the aux battery , providing me with power for lights camping , etc

will i need to replace the socket , can u charge through a socket plse

what socket will i need to fit plse, 7s or the 13 pin plse

have looking for a plug in loom but not sure to which socket i req to fit ,

aplogises as always asking the dim questions , i know i'm not that bright , lol

many thks as always

Hi, the factory fitted socket is a12N trailer socket which doesnt have the live in it just the circuits for lights/indicators, for caravan you need 12S and the easyest way to DIY is to buy the dedicated kit and replace the existing one, not scary price IMO, google out YWJ500201, this is plug and play and it has instructions or if not they are available online, aproximately 1 hour job... off course that you can bodge it too and do your own wiring for a 12S but for that you have to be able to work with the diagrams and use scotchlocks or things like that

brilliant and many thks , case of trying to get my head round many of the things and learnt a lot

been also looking between the vsr and DC-DC systems

wish to ensure i look into everything before i start buying everything pre installation , that way i know when it's all installed its correct and most of all won't bloody catch fire !!!

will indeed also buy a pre made loom, wouldn't bother messing around , assume it will also be the case of telling the system it's there, imagine the diagnostic reader i've got should be able to do that

I dunno exactly but i presume some setting is needed as the vehicle to addapt itself to a trailer or caravan but if it is your GAP device should be able to do that

thks, when i first got the gap iid i couldn't believe how many settings there were, menu after menu ,

imagine ur right concerning the socket and having to tell it which type

some menus i've stayed away from, i.e. reflashing software and resetting adaptive gearboxes etc , lol

thks again
