don't think it's got owt to do with your rpm, it works with your brake system and the ecu decides which wheel is going to have the brakes applied too for that milli second or two
 
When you start getting spin just hold your right foot steady, then if you need to gradually push it down further. Give it time to work. A lot of people lift off after a second or two, then moan that TC doesn't work.

a steady throttle is key. Traction control is an excellent tool. let it do it's stuff...
