Hi,

Guys can you help what is the easy way of renewing a track rod end on my 1987 land rover 90??? Pictures would be great.

If its stuck sometimes taking two hammers and bashing both sides of the eyelet hard can free them - is dirstorts it just enough to release.

Then, remove the clamp on the tube and attempt to unscrew it. Its usually easier and better for the tube if you take the whole tube off and clamp it in a vice, then use a length of pipe over the ball joint to unscrew it.

I held the tube with a pair of stilsons and after a soak in easing oil and tapping the clamp along the tube out of the way, the joints screwed off easy....:)

count how many turns out, then the same back in with the new ones,
do them both, then get it parallel tracked, have never scrubbed a tyre
doing this.

I'm gona ger a laser frum B n Q , one o them that yer can measure room sizes with etc.
Then I can set me own trackin:lol:

Gora drive over one which is brilliant but I dont think it'll take the weight of a 110.

What is the weight of a V8 110 anyway:confused:
What is the trackin spose ta be set at anyway:confused: :)

anybody ??

fook off ill get the garage to do mine... I cannae afford the fuel losses.

It may well be a landy not a zonda, but one of the few things that needs to be accurate, why not get a garage to do it properly?

I mean, ive now replaced all the ball joints, any worn steering UJ's, soon will have no play in either swivel, and no play in the steering box. Why leave the tracking to 'itll be reet' philosophy?

Perhaps its just me... When i bought my 90 both trackrod balls were wound ALL the way in - the toe out was actually easily visible - i drove it 200 miles home on the motorway, fook that was scary. I kid you not - i honestly needed lanes 1 & 2, and the hard shoulder, jus to keep it in a straight line. That was at 40 MPH...
