Hello, just bought a p38 1997 4.0 se, and i think it could do with tracking as the tyres have started to scrub on the inside, is this a job that any tyre shop could do or is it a specialist job?
cheers Mark

Straight forward job most tyre places wll do, although Kwik Fit refused to do my Disco on the normal rig they insisted it was put on the 4 wheel alignment machine. That cost me £60.

Any good tyre place with laser alignment kit. At the end of the day with tyres costing £100+ for the P38 you want to be sure it's done right. Are both tyres worn? or just one. The reason I ask is that a shot viscous coupling in the transfer box will cause scrubbing-to check this put the wheels on full lock and slowly drive forwards. If the tyre is scrubbing on one side, it's a sign that it has locked up.

So they ajusted the tracking on the rear as well as the front did they?
if not, demand half you money back:mad:

how the rear tracking can be adjusted on a P38 i dont know, its a solid rear axle!
i take mine to a local tyre centre, they use the normal opical gauges placed next to the wheel rims and i never have had any trouble, if it needs adjustment it costs me a tenner! hasnt needed adjustment so far so the checks are free!
