Sorry for asking as I know it's been discussed already.
But just wondering if it's worth putting a tracker on my defender?
If it is, what's good?
Defender defender looks quite good.

Thanks
Dave

Do a search on here - there's a thread about trackers - including making your own from bits available on the web ....

As to whether it's worth doing or not - there is only one answer ........ YES!

Anything which keeps the sticky fingered scrotes off a vehicle is worth doing!

I'll have a look, thanks for the replies.
Like the sound of defender defender tracker also the sky tag.
Will do a bit more reading
I've also use a disklok when I remember, it's just a bit annoying when using your vehicle 4 or 5 times a day

It’s not as annoying as having to walk home because you didn’t fit it.;)

You can buy a window etching kit on Ebay for £15 and l can say from experience that it works well.
You tell them how many windows and they send the correct amount of templates.
Don't be tempted to try and use a template twice, as it produces a smudged etching that you can't read.

You and your window etchings
It's one of the few ways to identify yer heap after its stolen. Changing the windows cost robbers time. If yer use the retainagroup version there's a log yer can lookup to see if a car is registered stolen or not.

l think Tracker is actually the best because it uses FM as well as GPS so it can't be jammed like most trackers.
But it's not cheap, £400 for the unit to be installed then nearly £200 per year subscription

The automatrics mtrack also has rf anorl. So they can find it in containers. Tracker uk uses its mesh network for betterer tracking anorl if you pick the model that has that feature.

OK l didn't know that, thanks for the info.

So,
l think that the best trackers are the dual band ones but any tracking device is a whole lot better than no tracking device.
As it means you at least stand a chance of getting your Land Rover back.

Some good vids on youtube of the automatrics trackers, seems part of the annual sub is they will actually locate the vehicle and call the bobbies when they know exacty where it is.

There's two type's of security. Preventing it being stolen or at least making it more difficult. Out of sight, alarms, immobilisers, steering locks and pedal guards etc.

The second is identifying and locating it after its been stolen. Etched windows, trackers, paint etched, reg number painted on the roof etc. The first thing robbers/theives do is change the reg plates to stop traffic monitoring camera's from knowing where its going. Often with plates from a similar vehicle. Especially if left on the side of the road to see if someone finds it with a tracker.

A tracker that tells you its moving is much betterer than a tracker that just reports location when asked. Yer need to know when the theft is happening to give yer time to react. Automatrics will go out on the road and find it and report to the police for recovery. Tracker uk have monitoring kit in some police cars which picks up the signal of distressed trackers. Skytag have a lesser service where they only follow it from the office but do report it to the police after you confirm its been nicked. Their claim on battery life it bollox. DefenderDefender reports movement but you track it yerself with their system.

If you have keyless entry locking/unlocking on a D3/4 or range rover then disable it. You may consider it as a vital feature so yer don't need to search yer hand bag for the key, but robbers/theives use this feature to help them unlock and start these vehicles anorl. Yer can disable it without tools yerself.

Is there a premium option which makes the perp disappear before the rozzers turn up?
Into the back of a van, for example and then you are given ten minutes 'one on one' time in the back of said van with the theevin git!

Sadly not. There's a chance the police may turn up and catch them, shove they in a van and take them to the local tip.

If car is a play/sunny day car, then you will need a battery trickle charger as the tracker will flatten it.
