Track rod ends

Hi

After looking under my 90 300tdi and then narrowing it down on the RAVE disk, I think I need to change the track rod ends (the rubber bits are split both sides)

Looking on the net they seem to come with 3 in a pack? what is the 3rd one for?

also are they side specific?

You need two for the track rod. They are side specific - the threads are different, normal thread one end and reverse thread the other. Follow the haynes manual instructions and don't rush it or your tracking will end up F*cked.

If you are feeling in a ball joint mood you can replace the one on the drag ling too but theres no point if its in an OK condition, thats the only reason i can think of there being a pack of 3

TIP: buy new clamps and clamp bolts for the track rod at the same time, the old ones will probably be pretty corroded and break when you try to do them up again
