Fitted my new tow bar with no problems at all, done this job to many different car's over the years.Thought o would be lazy this time and purchase a electric pack from ebay that plugs straight in.I have i located what i think is the plug in the OS side pannel and it was attached to the pannel with a 10ml hex (should of taken a pic before putting it back together).

Bugger, bugger, bugger it does not fit, both connections are the same (not male and female). The one on the car is long and thin and the one i purchased is a bit thicker.Have i the right part or have i located the wrong plug i the car.

Hi Alan

Just done one of these with the same electrical kit. The vehicle plug is female and if it's like mine will have a blanking cap located in it to protect the connections if it has not been used before.

It is located on the off side behind the boot trim panel, you will have to feel around inside the metal panel, as I recall there is only one obvious triangular hole about 200mm car forwards of the taildoor. On my Freelander the connector was held in place by a white plastic plug about 5mm across that protrudes through the metal panel, you can see it with the trim panel removed. Pop this through and the wiring connector should fall into your waiting hand.:D

Good luck

Dave

And if I have got it right, this link should take you to the correct page of the Land Rover towbar fitting instructions, which show you what you're looking for...
