Total loss of electrics

havnt used my td5 for well over a year, charged battery over night. When I tried to start just a rapid clicking from starter. I assumed stuck starter, gave it a tap without any joy then heard a clicking from fuse box sounded like a relay then all power has gone ,not even warning lights.
Any ideas thanks
Just an after thought, it has two batteries with split charger.

May be a silly question, but are you absolutely sure the battery terminals are tight and making a good connection?

Yes, had power prior to it all going.

That can happen, and then the connection can break down under the load of the starter.

I would also suggest checking the earth strap at the body end.

Is it modern enough for a 60 amp fuse ? Otherwise the clicking relay/fuse box would be a good place to look

It's 2001 10p,
The dash lights went a bit funny before loosing power.

Would you know if there is a fuse or relay that power from battery goes through before feeding the system.

Only on later vehicles. I don't know exactly when they started, so you will just have to look for it physically.

Battery has no real capacity. Deader-n-Dead?

Just realised got nothing from the alarm also, maybe that's gone tits up.

If battery hasn’t been charged in previous 12 month of non use then battery is duff

There's a particular point as the TD5 battery is going flat when you turn the key and get a rapid clicking noise, but the engine doesn't turn. Accompanied by curious movements of the instruments too. Try it with a known good battery and see what happens.
