hi guys, I have checked the fuse box under the seat only after having removed the becm as it was impossible with the door shut but all the fuses were ok, both keys work fine, I guess that even if the rf receiver was playing up from 1 foot from the car, after about 100 times it would have shown some sign of life, but I am quite sure the becm went crazy, as it started about a year ago with alarm going off at night mostly, courtesy lights not working if not after syncmate reset, as having them all on for no reason at night (I'll tell you , first few times quite spooky!!!).
I really did not like the option of having the becm removed but next week is term time and with three kids on the school run I really can't afford to explore anymore...

When i first got my P38 there was a few niggles, what i did was disconnect the battery and disconnect and clean every possible connection everywhere i could get to and have had no troubles since. (Used contact cleaner spray & exercise of plugs etc.)
Only thing i have no idea what the problem was as i did everything from engine bay, under-body & inside with a little dismantling involved.
But as Data says the fusebox in engine bay is absolutely worth a glance.

At least you can into the car now - stay positive:amen:

Sounds like it could be receiver, I bit the bullet and changed mine after flattened batteries, interior lights coming on etc.............. hope it's worth it, good being able to plip from more than 6 inches away ! but the thought of burnt out door locks swung it.

Ok guys, final update.
Finally I got the becm back from Rick at Callrova, climbed into the car, had fun fitting upside down the becm back into place, connected the battery and ...plop! lock lifted itself off, Hurray, I honestly would not have bet a penny but Hey, it worked.
The guy at Callrova said the becm was pretty messed up and I should look at the rf receiver.
So what I done is disconnect the cable out off the rf receiver and no problem.
To Druim and everybody else that helped me a big thank and few pints if you pass around Egham.
Only problem left now is the "bonnet open" blip as I can see the outer sheats of the cables, the blue stops at the end of the cables, the casing for the microswitch and the fasteners running under the grille are broken, any idea on best course of action?

I actually bought a new third generation rf receiver for just over £100.00 on ebay, not knowing that a friend of mine got me another one, so now 1 spare to sell anybody?

Great result - mobile again:)

Sounds cheap for the RF receiver, sure you got the latest one? There's 3 generations, latest has a Green dot and if you look inside a small circuit board on the main mounted at an angle (90 degrees).

The bonnet switch - either renew or live without like i do, think the previous owner shorted it as there's no alarm blibs or messages.

The bonnet switch is broken on mine as well but as long as the 2 wires going to the switch are not touching each other the message will not come up.HTH ;)
