Hi guys,
wonder if I can get some help as my local garage in Staines is hopeless.
I have a '99 dhse with a total lockout, won't let me in at all.
Problem started few days ago when I noticed that the courtesy lights were all on.Having had that problem b4 with the becm I got myself a blackbox and reset it. All fine but in the morning the battery was flat, completely dead. Made the mistake to lock the car and go looking for a charger, when back the remote central locking would not work, I tried with the key, the pin lifted up but door stayed locked.
I have since then called the AA that tried without luck to open the doors through a wedge and a coat hanger. We were able to open the bonnet and I got the battery out. After having it fully charged I have put it back, closed the bonnet, waited 30 minutes until the key lockout disappeared and tried to open both remotely and manually ( eka), but at the first turn of the key anticlockwise it gives me the bonnet open warning.
Local garage suggested that I break in somehow...
Any other more sensible suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Look at it and sure you can figure out, near right head lamp in combination with rh bonnet lock, two wires only

yes, I know what you mean, just the bonnet is now locked again as the becm was warning me of that and to add more luck my suspensions are now in unloading mode, no way I can get under now.
I just spoke to 2 locksmiths and a range rover specialist and they rekon that only way is to rip the lock sigh....

I'm thinking to break the window first and try the blackbox reset tool, really praying that would solve the mess, if not somebody told me that I should be able to remove the driver seat with the door close and either remove the becm and send it to be repaired or dismantle the door panel and try to unlock it from inside ( I have already done it sometime ago to replace a window motor and to fit screens for the kids, but with the door open obviously, I'm not a masochist), anybody think that is just too optimistic?

Are you sure the bonnet is completaly closed? Sometimes the latch is not fully engaged. Mine has this problem. After closing it I have to push it once again down aplying pressure on the middle of it. Than I ear a click and don't get the message "bonnet open" anymore. Check it and than try eka code. Maeby it helps.

Hi,
My understanding is that to accept the EKA code all doors and the bonnet need to be closed but unlocked before starting.
If by black box you mean a Blackbox Solutions Syncmate then I don't think this is going to help as it just syncs the BECM and engine ECU when this has become corrupted.
Do a search on the forum, I'm sure I read a post once advising how to open the bonnet when locked out.
I would'nt rush into breaking in just yet as I'm sure more experienced guys on here will offer suggestions soon.

Good luck.

hi Nicp38 I have bounced on the bonnet to make sure :D, I think the cables could be misaligned after all that pulling

hi Don, I did read the post on how to open the bonnet and others and that is how I did opened in the first place, only I had a 3ton jack to help me get under, now I am left with the missus seicento jack, do not trust enough to lift my kids bike, left alone working under it, for the eka my plan is to see if I can reset the bonnet lock , syncmate you are right, but you know to me electronic is magic, no other explanation:jaw:

:) sorry it didn't help. As said there is a thread on how to open the bonnet with a loked car. It is somthing like pulling the latch cable from under the engine bay if I remember right. I also advise not to smash the window glass. I would try to fix the bonnet first. At least don't smash it until you are not sure that you can fix the problem from the inside.

pull wires from bottom right of lower tailgate down (in a black sleeve) all the wires will be white. connect a wire to earth (towbar works well) attatch a pin to the other end. get someone to hold the tailgate release button in. probe the white wires one at a time very briefly, when you hit the right one the boot will pop. make sure you only do it briefly as if you hit the live feed you will pop the fuse then it gets more complicated.

hi druim, that is worth trying, I assume the wires you are talking about would be running somewhere between the end chassis and the tailgate hinge. ~I''l have a look tomorrow morning and see if it solves anything.Cheers

Correct lower right corner just over bumber - tight space, you may have seen it if lifted floor bridge/flap with tailgate open

A quick update: yesterday I woke up all excited a the tought of finally be able to get into the car, I have prepared what I needed and got the tools out: found easily the cable as suggests by druim, cut the black sheath to reveal no less than 10 white cables . Now ,just in case, I go and check the door lock guess what? Not working. But also no power at all, for the second time the battery went flat. Usual luck as the battery was fine two hours earlier. Only problem is that the bonnet is once again shut and the right latch does not.want to.come unlocked, I think all the juggling around must have done damage So I spent all yesterday trying to unlock the bonnet, eventually was I able to.do.it today aftwe applying.a bit of brute force. So I got m jump.pack, every range rover's owner basic tool, and connect to battery for a bit of juice, waited 30 min.just in case and started to poke around with a needle screwed into a cable block.after 9 ( typical) blanks and 3 time a defeaning alarm Zap! Upper tailgate open, thank you very much druim. Now I have removed the battery for charge and tomorrow we'll see. In the meantime I have a look around to see why would the computer tell.me bonnet open when it was not and I found after having to remove the battery casing that the switch came off. I think I repositioned ok as the access is not great but at least I.know what to push to fool the becm

Well done so did you get to enter EKA start engine and all after fixing or cheating bonnet switch?

Never tried the method but was a oldish quote from member aniesigh there now is confirmed as "jolly good better than a brick"

Well guys I managed to get into the car, battery replaced, tried eka but no luck,I am sure it is correct because I have tried it before and worked, got ignition key in but kept saying press remote or enter eka..... Tried 6 more time but no luck alarm kept going on ( silent mode).
Even tried to use syncmate as I remembered using it for resetting the lights that would stay off on be on all the time but same result.
I have concluded that thw becm has to go and after one hour of contortions I have got it out, most difficult task yet. I will send it Monday to "call rova" who seems to be fairly serious, anyone tried already for feedback? Still to discover if I need to remortgage the house.
Does anybody know if the cure will eventually fix the waves interference for all?:search:

Rick the Pick of Callrova seems to know his stuff. Are you sure the BECM is the problem? Could just be the RF receiver or even the fuse box.

Does the red light on the remote work? Have you got the new version RF receiver? (Green dot)
