torque converter or gearbox

Hi can any one help suddenly lost drive on my p38 2.5 bmw the other day when it is left it will drive but gets worse the longer it is running. is this the torque converter or gearbox

Any oil in the box?

Yep oil is a nice pink no burning. before this happened i noticed that the gearbox dip stick kept popping
out as if the box was pressurizing

Have you checked the level? Must be done cold with the engine idling, move lever through all gears then check the level.
Torque convertor failure is unusual on the 4HP box in the P38, more likely clutches if the oil level is OK.
