Could just knock a screwdriver through it,after draining the sump of course.

jesus christ, not on a td4 ! it's a removeable paper element in a plastic housing.

Gary, you need a 36mm socket to remove the top of the oil filter housing.

Now, I know they are about £7 in halfrauds, but if you wish, I'll be happy to lend you mine, I'm not a million miles away from you.

the other bits I can't help with, not that much into it anymore, don't have a garage, or the time.

And Halfords

Must say Halfords range of tools are not bad at all. And they do sell individual sockets and wrenches you might need.

Ebay is another source. For the home mechanic the quality is fine. Not for the Pro though.

Try local B&Q at present, they have just changed from one supplier (name escapes me) to Torq for sockets. All old stock is usually in a bin end somewhere - picked up a 30mm, 23mm and 18mm 12 point 1/2" socket today for 50p each. Don't need them but fill a gap in the toolchest :)

Not for the Pro though
I'm no fan of half*rds cos they are just too bloody expensive but I gotta say Half*rds 'pro' range are very good. Lifetime guarantee and some well deserved 'best buy' mag awards too. I've had a set for over 10 years now and the only thing I have broken is the 1/2" to 3/8" reducing socket which was promptly replaced free of charge without a reciept I may add..... just my 2 cents :)
