do i need any "special" tools to work on these. I do all my own work, too tight to pay garage prices and enjoy getting smothered in oil. I got a 1/2 inch drive socket set, lot of other bits and bobs. The inlaws work for a coach firm, so any suspension probs I will get their fitter to do.

I would Recommend alaptop with Rave installed plus
A 9/16 propshaft tool
36mm socket for the BMW engine oil filter
Fault code reader and the EAS software

nothing too frightening. anything out of the ordinary on the 4.0 v8 engine?
is the fault code software available for laptop for eas etc? Id rather just buy a programme to cover everything, rather than individual items. Is it obd for code reader, or as they used be with manufacturer specific plugs?

aww bless the innocence!! got i remember when my bubble was burst about FCR's for P38's.

well in a nut shell buddy, if you got about £2k knocking round then BBS_Guy will be only too happy to help (AKA blackbox solutions) you can really only get an EAS kicker to clear faults on the eas. or buy a FCR for about what £250?? after that the sky is the limit.

"normal" fault code readers parsay dont work.... more correctly they only work a little... there are lots of threads on the handfull that do and the chances are you will need one....
