I put my defender on one axle stand, drivers side front, to change the wheel bearings. It was placed supporting the axle under the front drivers side spring. As it turned out it ended up staying like this for about a week before I got around to changing the bearing.

Now it's sorted and back on four wheels it seems to be sitting about an inch lower on the front drivers side! It has had new standard springs and shocks all round in the last month.

Have I left it too long on one stand and caused permanent sag on the spring or will it even up in a week or so? Is this possibly a faulty spring?

Cheers for any advice...

Read a thread on this not long ago, drivers side spring is apparently tad higher than nearside spring to make up for drivers weight while solo, sounds like they are round the wrong way, worth checking.

Sorry.... Just to correct myself, I've just had a look at the springs that have been fitted and I have RED and GREEN marked springs on the rear, both drivers and passenger sides. The springs on the front are RED and BLUE, both drivers and passengers.

Is this the right setup for standard?

What the others say makes sense. But regardless of that, if your first thoughts were that having it sit on a axle stand has somehow bent the axle, that just doesn't stand to reason. If your axle casing was so badly rotten that that was even possible, it would have bent or more liked broke on it's own wheels.

I don't think it has bent the axle I was wandering whether or not the week or so on the axle stand had compressed the spring to the point it was permanently compressed more than the other side. Sorry if my first ramble wasn't clear

Cheers

Have you tries bouncing and lifting the body to free your shocker, which could have 'settled' at the lower level.

Cheers for the links Landowner, looking at those the garage has put the wrong springs on the passenger front and drivers rear sides! They've just put the same springs on the front, both Red/Blue and same on the back Red/Green.

I'm gonna drop it back and get them to change it.
