now that winter is approaching, does anyone have any thoughts on fitting a muff on a 4.4 l322?, im running on gas ,i was just thinking it might be a bit slow to switch over in winter?

No muff. Never had an issue on my old classic on gas in winter.

The BMW v8 should warm up quite rapidly even in winter. Mine currently warms up in around 1/2 a mile, so even if this extends to a mile or so I am not gonna complain.

If your gas system takes a while to switch over I think you need to check the switch over temp setting, my BRC system switches at around 45degC.

its pretty qick at the mo , prob less than half a mile on a lima system,i was just thinking how a frost might affect it, but if you think itl be fine i wont bother

Take a view on it when it gets colder, but don't forget that once it is up to temp you'll have to remove the cover to allow proper cooling to the engine or else you'll cook the engine.

The BMW engine is designed to run at 105degC which is quite high anyway, and will happily achieve this temp in the depths of a British winter without additional covers.

yer , i wouldnt muff all of it anyway, maybe half.thinking that the ram effect in winter on half a rad would equal a full rad in summer ?
