I've nearly destroyed the lip on the speedo gear housing trying to remove it, it won't budge or even move at all, trying to get it to turn but no luck.

It's been soaked in WD40 for the past 2 days and I'm now stuck and looking for tips on removing it.

A wee picture.

they can get very seized ,in which case removing the complete output housing is the best bet and lever/knock out from the inside

I've had a google and seen mentions of a front and a rear output shaft, hopefully just need to remove the rear one? If so is that removed by removing the bolts in the pic to the left.

Ring of bolts as the output shaft is splined you may find it easier to undo output shaft nut and release output flange as well.

The output shaft has speedo drive and spacing collar behind output bearing(bearing held with circlip)- hopefully it will seperate

I drained the box and took off the rear prop, I just want to ask some questions first,

I presume I take this big bolt off, I think it's a 32mm one but I'll have a search and find out the correct size.

Do I then remove these bolts, I think there was 4 of them.

Does the box just separate and slide off from this part here?

Woohoo, got the little devil out :)

Took the read output shaft off and was easy after that, some of the cog is damaged.

Now I'm thinking Maintemance while it's off,

There is a little bit of movement in the shaft and can wiggle it by half an inch, so I'm thinking it's best changing the bearing also, new oil seal, circlip and oil shield output flange, and a new gasket Ofc,

yes ,box apart from the 2 output bearings uses taper roller bearings which should have no movement ie gear should rotate but not move endways
