Hi... I'm in a spot of bother. The rear hub bearing seems to have gone... started squeeking then crunching, now sounds like metal on metal... I've had the Landy up and rotated the wheel and it deffo sounds like it's buggered.

Problem is, I'm half way through Mexico! I've managed to get the vehicle to a garage that can fit bearings, but the look of horro on the blokes face when we pulled up on the low loader was pricless. He didn't want to touch it.... I've convinced him it's an easy job, but I just need to get hold of a part!

I've got the Timken catalogue, but it only talks about Defenders from 93 onwards - I'm guessing that this it the USA Defender as it's a USA catalogue. (SET 37)

Will this fit mine?

Did the bearings change much over the years?

Try as I might I can't find the actual Timken part number, I only have STC4382G which I can't marry up to any Timken Part numbers?

My only alternative is to get one over from the UK, but that's gonna take at least a week.

On a side note, if I do order STC4382G does that include both inner and outer bearings AND the oil seals... i.e everything I'll need?

Thanks for your help!

That's an option I may have to take up if they can't find the part here. There's a masssive Timken supplier here, it's just in their book they have Defender 110 1993-1997

Mine's a 1992 110 V8.

tell el mechanico to stop ****ing about and strip it and send to bearing supplier for matching

I have in front of me - one timken wheel bearing, I also have a brammer catalogue.

You need: LM603049-LM603011

Cheers!

Went and bought the parts and it was fitted today... we're now back on the road.
