I've just got a 1.8L petrol freelander 1. I can't find any history of the timing belt being done. So I plan on doing it, but I see that people keep going on about the water pump? Should I replace it too? I thought if it ain't broke don't fix it!! But do i?

I change em, they don't last forever and can cause coolant loss that can kill a k series, you quite often find them leaking slightly when you get the covers off, you can see a stain of antifreeze on the block, obviously it'll only get worse not better!
For the cost of it I'd do it, plus its most likely due a coolant change anyway!:)

For all it costs, you would be as well replacing it. As said, if it is not leaking already, it probably will be soon, especially with the extra strain of a new, tight belt.
