tightness on lock?

hi,im new to freelanders and just want some advice as when on full lock and going foward or reversing slowly it feels a bit tight like brakes on,im sure i asked this before and was told its normal because of 4x4 vcu set-up,i did the tipp-ex test and seemed fine and all drives fine but just wanted to double check!cheers

Mines the same and when I 1st got it I was worried too, but it drives ok no noises......................yet anyway, So I presume its just the way they are.

keep an eye on the rear tyre wear, smooth is good but if they are wearing saw-toothed then the vcu is too stiff.

I don't think its just down to mileage , i think its down to speed aswell. If you regularly drive at 70 - 80 mph you are going to work the vcu alot harder than if you drive at 50 - 60 mph. This could explain why some VCUs fail after 30k and some last for over 100k.

true i treat them like a cam belt to be honest and change at 75000

The 15" steel wheels give saw tooth, even in 2wd, so VCU is not totally to blame,

I have the steel wheels on my commercial FL1.
