I have been hearing a distinct but not too loud ticking noise, i think from the front right wheel. It sounds like it is coming from around the wheel and most noticable at low speeds although not sure if it disappears or not noticible since there are louder noises (engine, tyres etc). It is affected by change of drive (pressing the clutch or the brake pedal sometimes makes the noise come if it is not occuring). Also turning the steering to the right almost always makes the sound come, while turning the wheel to the left will make the sound disappear ... Any ideas. Was thinking a cv joint or a disc brake?

Is the ticking like once a tyre revolution, or more frequent? A CV usually sounds like a few ticks, taps, knocks every revolution. Does it do it when driving at a slow enough speed turning right for someone to walk/run by the wheel and determine frequency.

I had this with a broken tooth on the diff too, Crown Wheel had a couple of teeth broken off so 'ticked' quite loudly .. :)

If it's one noise every rev of the tyre then check you haven't got a stone in the tread .. or a stone stuck between the caliper and stoneguard somewhere.

the noise sounds like it is coming from the actual wheel/hub although not 100% sure, also, probably it ticks with each revolution, although not every time. I noticed that if I touch the brake (even a little), it will make the ticking noise and if i turn slightly to the right it will make the noise. If it is doing the noise and i turn slightly to the left it will stop doing the noise.

also noticed that the standard cv joint test of putting the steering in full lock and start moving slowly, does not start the noise.

So after a while of just driving around, the noise seems to have changed a bit... It only comes when i press the brake pedal
