Hi Guys.

My Discovery 200tdi has developed a ticking sound more obvious from the passenger side of the engine. I have no apparent loss of power ,water and oil seem okay. does anyone have any ideas what this could be?

I've got the same thing on my 200tdi Rangie at present with same symptoms as yours.

I reckon it's the exhaust manifold gasket.

Failing that head gasket.

How long have you had this problem? It has happened to me over the past week. Would you try changing the manifold gasket in the meantime keep checking the oil and water levels. The engine is not really that smokey either.

I had exactly the same from mine. Was the cyl head gasket right at the back of the engine tight up to the bulkhead. Was blowing from cyl straight out hence no noticable oil or water issues.Just feel right round the back of the block where cyl head meets main block and you can feel it blowing if it is that Apparently its prone to go there.

I will check that but some people say it's sounds like the manifold gasket any ideas:confused:
