Greetings
New here, and this is my first posting, so here we go
I am a happy owner of a Y reg Disco 2 TD5 with 125000 ish on the clock, used mainly for getting to and from work , with the occasional outing towing my caravan, pretty much all is well with the world or should i say it was until those three amigo!s came to visit.
And now as i drive to work on these dark and somewhat dismal mornings, i have the pleasure of the ABS, Traction Control and Hill decent lights smiling at me from the recesses of the instrument cluster.
I have read some of the previous postings on this issue and should the funds come available to me in the near future i will try to get them sorted, but in the mean time as i dont actually feel i need traction control, hill decent control and dare i say it, even ABS, is it possible to disable these items and show no warning lights and be legal, safe and get an MOT pass (not due for 6 months).
Just to quantify, i have no intention of going of road and do try to keep a reasonable distance between me and the vehicle in front.
Thanks in anticipation for your responses, what ever they may be !
Tony..

no you cant legally as they are fitted , but i would get hawkeye £250-£300 ish or similar diagnostic tool as it will come in handy sorting faults in future bearing in mind some will charge a good bit to test for you , im my experience its often wheel sensor ,wheel bearing of which you buy new hub which comes with new sensor ,can be shuttle valves in block but by reading faults yourself and asking on here you can save alot of money, i woundnt change anything until faults read ,cleared and read again unless something obvious like looseor noisy wheel bearing

thank you jamesmartin
wheel bearings seem ok to me but i will check again, can the sensors be removed , cleaned and refitted or are they a one shot job,
thanks
tony

yes they can ,you need to remove brake disc to get to them ,i have sometimes blown castleated ring clean and refited cleaned sensor ensuring its fully home and cured fault before ,and if sorted lights will go off during test drive ,but diagnostic kit is the way ,maybe someone near you has one and could look with you
