Hi All,

Just got back from touring Europe (France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Italy & Switzerland) in my 94 Disco 300tdi. We have done this sort of holiday twice before in different but newer vehicles and had breakdowns both times.

Anyway to anyone thinking of taking their Landy abroad do it it's a great experience just a couple of tips for you thank I found out. We went with Eurocamps but booked out own ferry Norfolkline do Dover - Dunkerque every two hours at the moment it's £13 each way (plus a fuel supplement) however it's alot cheap than P&O Norfolklines standard height limit is 2.4M rather than P&O being 1.5 so most landys are classed as normal cars.

Also I looked for breakdown cover with the car being older only a few places would cover it and they wanted around £120 for 2 weeks cover. I ended up getting a year from Swinton including homestart and full European cover for £80.

I'll be putting some pics up soon

Like I say well worth doing

Not taking my Landy to Europe anytime soon.

Got to cross the Sahara for that, and then I'm not sure she'd get the type of fuel she's used to, and I won't be able to buy spares at the local open-air market, and I'm sure that there won't be any decent bush mechanics there.

She'll stick to the plains of Karamoja, I'm afraid.
