Hi all
I've just got the the thermostat modification kit for my 1.8 petrol freelander, I'm sure I've read something about a blanking part for the original thermostat housing, is there any photos or details on how to fix the kit to the car and anything else I would need before I start the job, can it be done with everything in place as it stands or do I have to dismantle any thing
Thanks in advance
Dave

The kit should come with the original thermostat restrictor ring.
If it doesn't, you can simply gut the original thermostat, leaving just the outer metal framework.

So you need to remove the factory stat, then cut off the stand offs, so leaving just an empty reduced hole though the middle, then refit it.

Thanks for the reply
What happens to the reduced hole is it sealed up
Dave

The official kit came with a restriction plate, which was simply a standard thermostat, without the thermostat components.
It's easy to make, simple by cutting the long thermostat support brack off the back.

Here a picture of the kit. I've ringed the restrictor in red.
