The worst landy owner

I live in Wiltshire. I bought by first Landy in December 2021. A disco 2 td5 auto. She is my pet project. So far I have replaced the sump gasket, to stop an oil leak. She still leaks oil as there is less in there each time I check but none on the floor. I’ve replaced the coolant pump. As that was leaking really badly and she kept over heating. Each time I fix something I seem to make something else worse. When changing the sump gasket, I didn’t notice the previous owner had used a helicoil on the sump plug. It didn’t refit quite as tight as I wanted. Being impatient I got on with refilling. Only to have the plug fall out while my wife was driving her home from the shops. After the coolant pump change I hadn’t done up the turbo oil drain quite enough and again found oil being sprayed underneath the car. Yesterday I took her out for a run along the ranges here and managed to sink her. After being dragged out by a local farmer I found I’m now in limp home mode. Hence my appearance here hoping someone might be able to give help.

Sounds like an interesting start to Land Rover ownership. Still, I’m sure the relationship between you and your disco will flourish once the issues have been sorted.

Sounds like she (the disco) is trying to make a mechanic out of you.

Oh as ^^^ doing it alone is risky.

We do it alone as nobody here to join, or is it they dont want to come with us, but we know the routes.

To be one with the Landrover you must become a Landrover. Or in other words, except for life the purgatory of insanity of owning a Landrover.

Welcome to the maddening world of landrover ownership. It is true that as you fix one thing, three other things break. After a while, you start recognising what to fix and what to leave alone. You might need to get the codes read to fix the limp mode but you could just try disconnecting the battery, leave it for a few minutes and then reconnect it. Good luck.
