I am now 12 months since I bought the TIG and it is still in the box, never had the spare couple of hundred quid to go buy the gas for it! There always something else more urgent, even on the 109 rebuild!
I'll need to get my finger out and get this...

I use Adams "rent-free" gas refills. You pay a deposit on the tank and then just the refill cost thereafter.

This is just for the refill cost less deposit and is about 600miles away! The full price for a 20l locally from the same company, including deposit and fill cost is £220 from the local supplier
Yerp, I am aware that up in Scotland distance can be a great problem. I just put it up so you could see the name "Hobbyweld" as I even know full time pros who use it. Fulltime mechs that is.
I used to use BOC for coogar but the rental on the bottle was stupid as I never used a bottle in a year. at least with Hobbyweld you don't pay rental so you can use as little as you like. But yes I am lucky and can get it locally. At the mo I am doing zero welding but when I get back to it that is what I will use.
This is my local supplier and yes the deposit is quite big but you get most of it back on return

The map on the website shopws how spread out the Scottish depots are and also that non pros can no lnger get Acetylene.:(:(

Hobbyweld is my local supplier just a few miles away but still takes an initial £220 to get a cylinder. I did ask them some time ago.
I have had a cylinder of Argon for the MIG from BOC on a hobby account for some years, its about £60 a year rental and I keep meaning to chop this into hobbyweld too, when I have a second £220!

I think the prices have increased a bit, I pay 15 a month rental for a bottle and I think a hundred to refill. Can't remember what size though. We are kind of caught by the squidgy bits with gas. Because we will buy it as it saves significantly from paying some other monkey.
