Got my heavy duty spring kit onto the rangey today along with 4 monroe gas shockers. I have to say... it was not the easiest job in the world! The springs took some serious compressing to get into their seats (v8kenny - you were right) and I even had to detach the brake and ABS cables to drop the axles enough... oh and yes, it does knacker the height sensors (hee hee hee like I'll need them again!)

The rear air springs had a 30-degree kink in them when I dropped the back axle - the air spring was heavily worn on the outside of the kink. Getting the spring seat to mate into the rear axle was pretty tricky... mixture of lifting the jack, screwing the compressors and yanking the springs around.

To see the EAS alarms clear, and just have that "EAS Manual" indication for a few seconds was pure joy.

The ride quality... I am quite impressed. She sits a little bit higher that she used to in high mode, but there is minimal roll - off course can't tell how worn the previous shockers were. It's quite firm along the road, but when I ramped over some mini roundabouts, she bounces and settles really very gently. I would say there is slightly more road noise though.

We'll see how she beds down over the next few runs, and I still have to do a high-speed run, but so far I am completely chuffed!!

I gotta say, it is lovely to know that one of the many space shuttle style electronic systems is never going to worry me again!

Is it just me, or is the location of the rear shock top mounting bolt a complete joke?

Also, I'm surprised that neither of the springs are retained at the top at all - I guess the compression and the shocker keep it in place? I have visions of coming out of a meg deep rut, bottoming out the front and a spring popping out! Mind you, the amount of compression they took, I guess not.

yeah when i changed mine it did worry me abit about the springs having nothing to retain them! i fitted the the atlantic british kit and im chuffed with the outcome, thinking of going for a higher lift soon!!!!

It was the Atlantic Brit I used, just the heavy duty kit, which results in a 1-1.5" lift. I reckon it sits a bit higher that the air did at full height (you notice it the first few times you climb out) but that suits me fine as I'm gonna fit 65 profile Avons to replace the stock 55 Pirellis which are fine on a motorway but nowhere else. The lift leaves plenty of arch clearance.
