the rise and fall of the p38

hi,i have just reconditioned my valve block,including the diaphragm,all is now as it should be,let the air tank fill shut the door,and she rises,the only thing now is the pump,it runs all the time,is the air pressure valve knackered? or is the pump shot?

If it rises OK in a reasonable time it is not likely to be the pump, is this with the bonnet open or closed? Mine runs all the time with the bonnet open, never figured out why except as a trouble shooting aid.

Could be the pressure switch or a leak. You need to read the faults.
 
Buy a 6mm length of pneumatic pipe, a 6mm T and a 12 bar pressure gauge. Put the T in the end of the pipe that goes into the tank, connect the gauge to the T and with a small length of new pipe, connect it back to the valve block.
This will help you understand what's going on with the pump. According to LR specs, the compressor should reach 10bar (+-.5bar) in 7.5 minutes, starting with an empty tank.

Also, are you seeing the pressure valve (not switch) working ? It will release air once the pressure gets to 12bar in the tank.

Most likely scenario is your compressor needing some renovation work, probably starting with the piston seal.

cheers for that will give it a go,halfords here we come!
 
7 `n` `alf minutes seems optimistic in the real world! 10/15 maybe more realistic from empty. What do others say? Try putting your finger over pump inlet (with filter removed). There should be noticable "suck" holding your finger there.
