Dear All,

My 90 200 Tdi has been sulking lately and throwing a series of problems at me. As soon as I sort one out, another comes along...

Anyway, the latest issue involves a scraping noise from under the car when parked up and about to turn off the engine. The noise is accompanied by the handbrake light coming on (which it never normally does under any circumstances) and subsides as the engine spins to a halt. I'm thinking it's handbrake related.

Any thoughts?

Kind regards

Dom

Surely it must come on when you put the handbrake on o_O
Sounds like some muck in the handbrake drum, or something loose. You'll need to take rear prop off to get at it. It's not a difficult a job.

On Discoveries there was a handbrake issue with the handbrake cables moving a little, eventually wearing and either shorting or becoming live, introducing odd faults ... It'd be worth having the seats and seat box tops off to have a look, as well as from underneath. A 90 ain't that different to a Disco underneath ...
