Disco 2 The Loverly Alpine TDM-7576R *&^%$£$$

Hi guys i thought i put this out the on behalf of my dad, he's spent the last 4 days trying to replace his car stereo with an (E bay) Alpine TDM-7576R which we're pretty sure was the standard radio system for the Disco 2 as he want to get all the odds and sods on it running as it used to. However the alpine is not behaving and kept cutting out (wiring fault) when moved a fraction which also happened with the other radio, ok he's spent more tinkering moments to identify the offending wires and made repairs as necessary, all ok you'd think but nope now there is no power getting the the radio at all and keeps blowing a 15 Amp fuse Twice! which controls the clock, interior lighting and audio etc...

In need of some advise and some encouraging words please.

First of all, I dn't know where you got the impression that your radio head unit, the Alpine TDM-7576R was the standard system in the Disco 2. There were three different head units fitted to the D2 depending on version. If you have the amplifier under the front passenger's seat and the CD auto-changer under the driver's seat then it's a fair bet that the proper head unit was the Alpine R990, which is often known as the "Hi-line" installation.
The set-up above is the Harmon-Kardon (HK) system which also has the sat-nav system included.
To help you sort out the wiring to the head unit, I've included the wiring diagram for the R990 system which will show you what's what on the vehicle side.

Sorry Brian, i'm only going on what my dad has said and read from the Haynes manuals and owners manuals for his car, he thinks that the problem of the 15 Amp fuse repeatedly blowing is between the radio connectors to the main wiring loom to the battery (if I've got it right?), hes had the radio apart and I've had a look at it (all parts look ok in the radio nothing blown or carbon scored and no bad or split connections in it). He's going to take it to our local Landy Mech (whose got all the testing stuff you could possibly dream of, to look into it further.

I look forward to changing mine over in my Disco 1 the previous owner must have been thinking of a spaghetti western when it came to wiring.
