I used it on a ratty looking steering wheel and it looks and feels great now. Clean it thoroughly with brake cleaner or similar then give it five or six coats as it is really thin but well worth taking the time, let it dry between each coat.
Edit: Don't worry about it being for leather, I used it on a black sponge type steering wheel.

That looks like it really made a difference. If I cant find another steering wheel cover that looks like it will do the job I will give that a go. The problem with mine is that there are chunks missing off of it as well now!

Might it not be easier to buy a nice, fresh, pre-sanitised steering wheel?

Well, secondhand is OK, provided it's come from nice clean people. But then there's the gear knobs, door handles and heater controls to think of. If I was you I'd undo them, take them indoors and boil them.
I know this sounds like a rather personal remark, but if you like being clean, aren't Land Rovers a rather odd choice of hobby? It's easier for me because my hands are usually dirty anyway. My mother used to say she could tell when I was ill because my hands were clean.

Now I never said I liked being clean as such but just have a nut job dislike to handling things other folks have a great deal. Give me mud,oil and grease all day but ask me to touch a public toilet door handle and my mind screams filthy people that don't wash their hands....

I went in to work the other day having just re-sealed my rocker cover, so my hands were all covered in oil and there was sealant under my fingernails. One of my colleagues remarked on how dirty my hands were/ 'Oh no, it's good clean Land Rover dirt' I replied. It was only later I thought how silly it sounded. Some dirt is dirtier than other dirt. Personally I don't like that kind of deposit that builds up on frequently used light switches. So much so that I touch them just with my fingernails as quickly as possible.

Here's a thought, use something like expanding foam to fill the holes, trim it off nice and even and try the stuff I mentioned. It covers the wheel with a coating very similar to the original. Then it'll be all spanking brand new to you and you won't have to worry about touching other peeps germs and it will only cost you a few quid.

Oh and since all the trattors are pouring out their hearts I might as well join in. Yip I do sometimes use the sleeve of my jumper to open toilet doors.

When you think about it the dirt on Land Rovers is pretty foul stuff. There are all the microbes that live in soil, plus fecal matter and pee from all the animals that have been wandering through it before it got spattered on the Land Rover, plus the eggs of all kinds of intestinal parasites (maw worm, tapeworm, whip worm, hook worm, round worm, and those are just the ones I can think of; no doubt there are many more). Water off the road is full of contaminants from the traffic, including most of the poisonous metals you can imagine, carcinogens in the oil and so on. Plus the Land Rover's own oil, to which the same applies. So good clean Land Rover dirt is not something you'd want getting in the food chain.Yet as I work I happily eat biscuits, cakes and sandwiches, and put pasties on the manifold to keep them warm.

We're quite a good habitat for a substantial selection of the world's wildlife. In or on the human body, actual human tissue only accounts for 10% of the cells and the rest is made up of microbes, or the 'microbiome'. Plus the odd few multicellular parasites and endosymbiants. They're mostly very small compared to our cells so only amount to about 1.4 Kg. They help process our food, run our immune system and lots more. It's like having your own farm and branch of Tescos inside.

I wouldnt have even attempted the steering wheel cover so fair play for having a stab. To be fair, it may have reached all the way round if it didnt have the wrinkles in it! Lol! (that was a joke by the way - not a criticism)!
Im surprised you had to wait so long at Paddocks. I have always been pleased by the coubter service there. Bob (I think thats his name!) is great to deal with.

When I finish the bathroom I started last March, I will be allowed to play with my 90 again.trouble is.....I truly hate tiling and grouting!
