Hello all,

In three weeks time I have a week off!!! Yay :clap2::clap2::clap2:

So I'm going to give Larry a full 12k mile service. I do however have a question about the axel swivels. I beleive mine is running with the lifetime grease, its a 98 Jap Import Auto EDC (crap starter, I might do the cables as well). Is it wise to drain the swivel housing grease off and put some new grease in, if so I guess with the same stuff that will come out?

Larry is soon to hit 70k miles and I'd like to be nice to him and ensure that the swivels as well as all the other wet bits are done at the same time.

And I was thinking of realining the roof again, the last ones peeled in the 45c+ temp of Morocco in the sun, anyone know of any cheaper fabric that the foamy stuff.

Oh and I'll be doing some very minor welding as well, typical eh! And new tyres soon.... I will not ask about sizes.

Let us know how u get on draining grease.
Even if you had oil in the swivels that would also be a problem draining as there aren't any drain plugs fitted to factory filled grease swivels.
Have a look :)
My swivels still are lubricated with the 17 year old factory grease.

Well would you beleieve it, was travelling down the A23 to Brighton this morning, just coming upto the Patcham roundabut and the drivers side wheel lock solid at 40mp with no warning.

Dragged larry onto the hard sholder using Low. Got the recovery man out.

I backed it up about 4 feet, took the wheel off, breaks ok, bearing seems ok???

Err, looks like I'll be taking the hub off soon and checking the other parts CV Joint etc.

How bloody odd, and also a minor Code Brown incident...
